Hello everyone!
Usually, these types of posts are written in a cold, technical tone, like “We’ve added Feature X and fixed Bug Y.” But at Yuzu Creative, we set out with a different vision: since the soul of our games is rooted in storytelling and immersing people in new worlds, we felt that the journey itself should be told like a story. We want to tear down that “official” wall between us from day one. So, what’s actually happening in the kitchen of Alien Shop?
From Concept to Reality: The Birth of Characters
Everything started with a spark of an idea, but bringing that idea to life—giving it “flesh and bone”—was a completely different process. We sketched dozens of concept designs for our main characters. While asking ourselves, “How do they look?” or “How would they carry themselves inside the shop?”, we found ourselves glued to our modeling screens. We didn’t just stop at drawing; we imported those models into the game engine and ran our first tests. Seeing our characters take their first movements on that screen was like watching a baby take its very first steps.
Low Poly, High Atmosphere
We’ve chosen low-poly as our visual language. But this isn’t just a stylistic preference; we are striving to pack a deep, rich atmosphere into this minimalist world. Within this low-poly universe we’re building, we’ve tested character animations, experimented with lighting, and gotten one step closer to capturing that authentic “Alien Shop” vibe.
Behind the Scenes: Salih and the “Creative” Hours
Of course, it wasn’t all serious business in the halls of development. I’ve been brainstorming for hours with my greatest partner-in-crime, Salih. And let’s be honest: while working on some of these designs and testing animations, we were a little… tipsy 🙂 Who knows? Maybe some of our most “out-of-the-box” ideas are the fruits of those joyful, hazy moments.
And I want to say this from the heart: I’m so glad to have you, my dear friend and brother, Salih. This process definitely wouldn’t be this fun or sincere without you.
Alien Shop is still at the beginning of its journey, but a game with a real heart and soul is on the way. Stay tuned, because we have many more stories to tell.
Best,
The Yuzu Creative Team
We know that underneath all those fancy corporate words, there are actually those famous ‘tipsy’ brainstorming sessions and your friendship with Salih. 🙂 No matter what you say, it’s that authentic soul we’re looking forward to. Keep it up, Yuzu Creative!
